Background material and student projects

This is one of several files containing lists of, and links to, web-based resources for
use in connection with my graduate courses, web-based articles and talks. This file
contains background and project material, including student projects. I have found that
a project on a well-defined topic, produced by one or more students,
helps all the students, becoming a shared resource.
Latest version of this document 8th June 2005.
- Pages on Background material,
Fourier transforms,
Eigenvalue problems, and
Operator/Matrix methods,
all prepared with student input for my
Quantum Physics graduate class in 1998-2004 at ASU.
- Pages on
Crystallographic notation and stereograms,
Metal surfaces: jellium and the work function, and the
Band structure of silicon,
relating to Surfaces and Thin Films and
Quantum Mechanical Models of Solids graduate courses at ASU and Sussex during 1998-2004.
- Pages relating to Undergraduate (REU) projects at
ASU, which includes a physical adsorption project
started by Jeremy Piwowarczyk years ago. These projects are now rather old, but I would be
interested in developing other REU projects, using primarily MatLab programming.
