In this lecture, I have covered various models of metals in contact with semiconductors, and of oxide layers on semiconductors, and have tried to indicate why such issues are important for device structures. Models in this field have been extremely contentious, so sometimes one has felt that little progress has been made. However, recent developments and new experimental techniques have shed considerable light on what is happening.
I am in the process of updating my notes before going public on this web page, and am consulting with colleagues as to what they think their students ought to know, and what are the best references to the literature. If you have views on what should be included, please download the draft Word 6.0 document and let me know what you think by firstname.lastname@example.org
